Why Hire a Public Adjuster?

Peril Public Adjusters

Public adjusters ONLY represent you, the policyholder, and are never allowed to represent the Insurance Company. We put ourselves in between you and the insurance company to protect your interests and your policy claim. Public Adjusters are licensed and are regulated under strict rules and regulations. We have experience working for the insurance carriers giving us an advantage to knowing their policies and procedures and how to avoid costly mistakes. Public adjusters are trained to thoroughly inspect and estimate your complete damage while interpreting the terms and conditions contained in your policy and how those damages fit in. We work hard to make your final settlement include losses and reimburse you to the fullest value allowed under the terms of your policy.

Fire & Smoke Claims

Fire claims can be one of the most challenging and complex types of claims to handle. We oftentimes get involved after the loss restoration period has been started. Unfortunately, we see many policyholders that have signed contracts with restoration companies that do not put their best interests first. These types of decisions are needed to be made so soon after the loss that oftentimes incorrect decisions are made that will have lasting consequences on what is able to be recovered on the loss.

How destructive can a fire / smoke loss be?

There are several variables that go into the full extent of coverage on a fire/smoke loss. First and foremost, smoke and soot can spread through all the ductwork and into other rooms within the property that seemingly do not appear damaged. It can affect all electrical components such as outlets, sockets, fixtures, refrigerators, televisions, etc. It can also penetrate porous surfaces such as walls, insulation and carpet. Additionally, firefighting activities can further add to the scope of damage that affects the property.

Hurricane & Wind Damage Claims

The standard property insurance policy will cover direct physical damage from a windstorm. On one hand, if the damage is beyond obvious (entire roof or walls blown away), then a carriers determination on coverage is quite simple. However, if the damage is light, such as shingles that are missing, siding that has started to pull away from the structure, the carrier’s determination may not add up to the actual damage sustained. You need a Public Adjuster on your side to fight for the full amount owed to restore your property to pre-loss condition.

If the damage is catastrophic, needs such as additional living expense for a homeowner or business income loss for a business owner will come into play. There are also the items such as business inventory loss or personal property damage that might need to be taken into consideration. Having an expert on your side to guide you on these decisions is absolutely critical.

Hail Claims

Don’t fall victim to your insurance carrier improperly denying a hail claim. Unfortunately, we see this all to often in our industry. Hail damage claims tend to be the most challenging claims to argue due to insurance policy coverage issues. While a severe hailstorm will create damages that are obvious enough to be undisputed by an adjuster, smaller hailstorms will oftentimes be overlooked or chalked up to wear and tear. Additionally, we see carriers writing to make a partial repair or patch job to the roof. The roof of a structure is one of the most important building components to your property and you need to have a team on your side to ensure a proper adjustment of your claim.

Frozen Pipes Claims

If you were affected by last winter’s cold snap, you might be wondering if your insurance covers broken pipe leaks. Generally, water damage from burst pipes is covered, but you must act quickly to prevent further damage.

Be cautious of contractors who may exploit the situation. Ensure your agreement with the contractor is approved by your insurance company, and it's best to have your insurance adjuster and contractor agree on the work scope before starting.

A Public Adjuster can help navigate this process. As we approach another cold winter, remember to keep your property heated to avoid negligence claims from your insurer, which can lead to denial of coverage. Take proper precautions to maintain your property.

Appraisal & Umpire Services

Complimenting the full policy review, our disaster planning team will work with you to ensure we are equipped with the documentation of your property’s condition, inventory and records. Make no mistake, when a claim is filed your insurance carrier immediately works to investigate the claim. Adequate documentation, pre-loss, is of the utmost importance in the event of a claim.

After experiencing a peril, there will be several immediate issues to tend to, such as: emergency mitigation, temporary repairs, potentially relocating the business operations or tenants, etc. The last item a property owner wants to contend with is locating various documents and records, if they survived the catastrophe, in order to supply the carrier with their necessary requirements to pay the claim appropriately. Every second after the loss is critical and each move made could potentially cost 10’s of thousands of dollars to your business.
